Learn best self defense training #1 - Most fights always end up on the ground and fighting on the ground isn't always your best option. However I will say that training in Brazilian Jiujutsu is an excellent thing to do. If you can mangle somebody in under 10 seconds by pulling off a quick choke or arm bar, you can quickly end the encounter. However there is a bad side to this. Say your opponent has a group of friends with him, they could beat, kick and stomp you while you do your ground fighting on your opponent. So be aware of this, but I highly suggest you look into Brazilian Jiujutsu as a style of martial arts to learn. Learn best self defense training #2 - Never and I mean never assume that you will knock someone out or end the fight with only one or two moves. That only works in Hollywood movies and on TV and is completely invalid when it comes to real street fighting and martial arts combat. Be aware of your skills and remember that winning a fight consists of attacking 80% of the actual fight while progressively moving forwards. I'm serious about this. Learn best self defense training #3 - When you are out in your daily life, be aware of the people and the environment you are in. I don't mean be super paranoid but what I do mean is be aware of the people around you. You never know when an act of violence will break out. So while walking down the street, do you notice the two agitated drug addicts? You have to keep your eyes firmly peeled and be constantly aware and on the defense. If your walking with your MP3 player blasting in your ears, turn it down a little bit so you can hear outside around yourself as well. Studying martial arts training and actively participating and practicing is the only way you will ever good and stay completely prepared for real violence on the streets or at home or wherever it may happen in your life. Don't walk around thinking your bullet proof and don't start fights with people either. Just be aware of your safety and those you are with.
